Kids knew how to have Fun in the 1970s. Do You Remember These Summer Activities?

Summer is almost here. Some might not know that back before social media and 24-hour streaming TV, young people would spend long summers outside. Today, we are looking back at some of the best summer activities we all loved in the 1970s.

1. Riding Bikes Around the Neighborhood
In the ’70s, bikes were the ultimate ticket to freedom. Kids would hop on their banana seat bikes, often decked out with colorful streamers, and spend hours cruising the streets with friends.

2. Slip ‘N Slide Adventures
On hot summer days, nothing beat rolling out a Slip ‘N Slide in the backyard. A little water, a lot of laughing, and plenty of grass stains made for the perfect afternoon.

3. Hanging Out at the Arcade
Arcades were the place to be. Packed with flashing lights and the sounds of pinball machines and early video games like Pong, they offered endless hours of entertainment for just a few quarters.

4. Building and Hanging Out in Treehouses
Armed with scrap wood, nails, and a lot of imagination, kids in the ’70s built epic treehouses. These homemade hideouts became secret clubs, pirate ships, or whatever adventure they could dream up.
