The 1960s were a pivilot time for the sports world. From the first ever Super Bowl to Muhamid Ali becoming a household name. Below are our chices for some of the most significant sports moments of that era.

Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-Point Game (1962) On March 2, 1962, Wilt “The Stilt” Chamberlain scored an astonishing 100 points in a single NBA game—a record that still stands and may never be broken.

The First Super Bowl (1967) – The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in what was then called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. No one knew it yet, but the Super Bowl was on its way to becoming America’s biggest sporting event.

Cassius Clay Becomes Muhammad Ali (1964) – At just 22, Ali shocked the world by defeating Sonny Liston for the heavyweight crown, and then shook up culture even more by announcing his new name and identity.

Bill Mazeroski’s Walk-Off (1960 World Series) – The Pittsburgh Pirates’ second baseman hit the only Game 7 walk-off home run in World Series history, toppling the mighty Yankees in dramatic fashion.
